Trementina Canyon Fire burns 825 acres in San Miguel County; 50% contained

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) -The lightning-caused Trementina Canyon Fire started on July 13, 2020, and is located six miles north of Tremintina, New Mexico in San Miguel County.

The Trementina Canyon Fire is not threatening any structures and there are no evacuations at this time. On July 15 the fire received light precipitation that moderated fire behavior and allowed firefighters to mop-up hotspots and to improve the fire’s containment.

On Friday, July 17, fire crews will work on the west and north sides of the fire to tie in containment lines. Smoke may be seen in the surrounding areas however, it will moderate as temperatures cool in the evening.
